Pinewood girls won vs Presentation today in the Pinewood Classic tournament, semi-finals. The girls found their rhythm on offense, took the lead early, and never relinquished it. Both teams played well - this was definitely a game worth watching. The whole team played very strong defense, as they have in every game, but instead of struggling on offense as they did throughout the Notre Dame tournament, they played strong and confidently. The game was close at times in the first half, but the team put the game away with a big run at the start of the third quarter. The final score was 61-46. See photo coverage here.
The Palo Alto Daily news covered this game Sat Dec 17. CalHi Sports Bay Area was also present, look for their coverage on Sunday evening Channel 4 at 5:30.

The team played with confidence in the low scoring first quarter which ended 9-2 in their favor. They blew the game open in the second quarter, ending the half at 39 - 10. The third quarter saw the ryhthm of the game change, with both teams playing strong defence, ending the quarter 47 to 19. Mills came in strong in the fourth quarter. The Pinewood team also committed a string of turnovers, which Mills took advantage of to narrow the gap. The final score was 55-42. See photo coverage here.
Overall, the first Pinewood Classic was an excellent experience for the girls, readying them for the tough competition ahead at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix next week.
